What a fantastic weekend we have just had. The planned convoy to the International event in Huy, Belgium was a brilliant event. Seven Saabs met at Folkestone for the 12.50 train to Calais. It was a nice colourful mix of cars. Myself, Alex and Mike in my Ice Blue 9-5, Ellie in his Grey 900 Convertible, Les and Stephen in Les's 9000 Anniversary. Chris & Lorraine Hamley in a 9-3 Viggen Convertible, Simon & Maria Allen in a Lime Green 9-3 Sport Convertible, Rob & Carol Gray in their Neuf Neuf Turbo and Pete Briggs & Nick Keys in Pete's classic 900. David Ross was also there but had gone ahead in his 99. When we arrived at the French/Belgium Border there was a few cars from Lille waiting for us. Then it was onto the next stopping place to meet up with the Paris Convoy. Over a dozen Saabs welcomed us as we pulled into the car park. It must have been a great sight for Saab drivers as we left with over 40 Saabs in a line, all models and all colours. When we got to the beautiful town of Huy we were welcomed by the views of Saabs everywhere and from all Countries. We saw David and Steve drinking a beer in a local pub. Our first real stop was at Etienne's house where we were welcomed with a drink from Mr & Mrs Mosel and found more English, including Dave R and Ian H, Belgium and French Saab nuts chatting to each other inside. Quick dash to the hotel followed, with a freshen up and a change of clothes. then onto O'Malley's for the evening meal. Top marks go to Etienne and the owners of this great Irish pub/ restaurant, it was fantastic. The food was top notch and the drink flowed all night. What a brilliant night. After that a careful walk along the river back to the hotel. Next morning we met up again for breakfast then it was down to the car park to clean all the Saabs. A German Saab fan called Oliver was there watching the strange sight and taking pictures. when all that was complete it was a mini convoy to Huy Town Centre where we were to park with 263 other Saabs from 8 different Countries. The best bit was the chatting to all the Saab fans and just walking around seeing the beautiful Saabs. Most of the Saab models ever produced were in the Market Square. At 3pm the results were announced for the most favourite Saab of the day and it went to Rob and Carol Gray, who travelled from the UK in our Convoy. A great weekend and biggest of "Well Dones" are to go to Etienne for organising this fantastic event. You can find photo's from the Huy get together at these links. from Robin, from Alex, from Jeff, from Etienne & from Oliver. Alex and Philip have put together a video of the great event.
This is the longer version but sadly with no sound, so sing along to yourselves.

The following text from
Etienne's website.
European saab meeting HUY (final report)I wish to thank you all for your enthusiasm and your lovely Saab! There is so many cars from two-stroke to the new 9-5 (5 in total) including Sonett II & III, 96, 99, 900, 9000, 9-3,9-5 from all generation, the atmosphere on grand-place of Huy was wonderful. I'm quite happy to meet board members of French, British, German, Dutch, and Luxembourg Saab clubs! Thanks also to Dimini.ch Who come with a superb brand new 9-3X and made a special edition model car to commemorate this event(there is still someone available on there website) The best car of the show elected by the public is the red 99 owned by Rob and Carol Gray from United Kingdom who come with the convoy organized by Robin Morley organizer of the Swedish day UK in lovely Somerset! See: Saab united!
