We are many, we are Saab
14th-15th January 2012

South West Saab supported this great get together in two locations in the West of England.

We supported two of the events in the UK. Three of our cars were in Bristol and six Saabs travelled to Yelverton in Devon.

More details of the Bristol event we joined GWS at Ashton Court can be seen at GWS's link; here and I know the guys and girls had a great time together

The others set of to drive down to join Chris Hamley at his Garage in Yelverton. Saabs started arriving from 11.00am and we soon filled the local car park. It was decided to go to the local airfield for a few photographs. There were 45 Saabs there including one with a camera man from the BBC who published a few pictures later that day on the net..

Press release

Massive support for Saab January 14th and 15th 2012

Eemnes, the Netherlands. In a reaction to the bankruptcy declared by Saab, a group of Saab

enthusiasts called for a worldwide number of meetings to be held and through these express their

support to Saab and its former employees. The enthusiastic reactions received within one week

show once more that even though Saab is in stormy weather, Saab itself is very much alive.

For Saab Club Nederland, Saabforum.nl and Saabsunited.com the bankruptcy was the cause to put

the word out for anyone holding Saab in high regard to join in in a meeting on either January 14th or

15th. This call was not met by deaf ears, it proved to be very successful. At present 32 countries

worldwide are organising 63 events. It is to be expected that more countries and events will be added

to the already long list.

In the Netherlands alone about 330 Saab owners have already pre-registered for the Dutch event via

the specially designed website http://www.outside-saab.com. Here also the organisers are expecting

that number to grow. Two years ago in 2010 such an event was attended by about 900 Saabs.

Worldwide 70 convoys were organised.

One of the people behind the present call-out, Nic. Schellekens, speaking about the new initiative:

“The bankruptcy hit the many Saab enthusiasts as well as those directly or indirectly involved with

Saab rather hard. In order to show our support to the latter we again want to show our enthusiasm

for Saab. This time by means of worldwide meetings. Through getting as many people together we

want to show clearly that Saab may be bankrupt but the brand itself is very much alive. You can see

this as a positive note towards those interested in helping Saab restart production. The brand simply

deserves another chance.”

Using the slogan “we are many, we are Saab” as many Saab lovers worldwide are called upon to

gather in the weekend of the 14th and 15th of January 2012 and show their support. The Dutch event

will be at the Valkenburg Airfield on Sunday 15th January 2012. Via the website http://www.outsidesaab.

com and twitter www.twitter.com/OutSideSaab as well as via WeAreSaab on Facebook one can

stay updated on the latest information.

For the meeting stickers were produced. The slogan “We are many, we are Saab” could not be more

clear.
